Composite Fillings
Composite fillings are a tooth coloured alternative to traditional, and often unsightly, fillings offering a good looking way to repair decayed teeth. They also bond to the tooth to support the remaining structure which helps prevent breakage and sensitivity to temperature.
What does treatment involve?
The dentist prepares the composite resin (a mixture of plastic and glass) and places it on the decayed area in layers. It is then shaped to fit the tooth and polished.
These cosmetic fillings are more difficult to place than normal fillings so treatment may take a little longer.
What are the advantages?
Though perhaps a little less durable than normal fillings, composite fillings have far more aesthetic appeal and how long they last will depend on the depth of cavity and its position in the mouth.
